Splendour Festival: An Insight

July 2017

What it is and why you should head down!

The splendour festival is an annual music event held at Wollaton Park, Nottingham during July. Organised by both the Nottingham City Council and DHP Concerts, big names from past and present will make an appearance including Kaiser Chiefs, Busted, Gabrielle Alpin, and Billy Ocean.

As well as these big names, varied range of musical acts and genres are also on offer at the festival such as world music and local unsigned bands.

More than Just Music

Most would be happy to attend the Festival for the music alone, I mean music festivals are usually known for their music.

However aside from the three music stages that the music artists will be performing on, there will be a lot happening on the park in terms of entertainment, counting comedy in the courtyard – which will feature the up-and-coming such as Wes Zarahuk, Scott Bennett and Jollyboat. There will also be a kids’ play area and other various entertainers out and about in the crowd whilst you’re there.

How to get yourself down there

If you are travelling by car, follow the signage along the main route to the event. It will take you directly to Middleton Boulevard and eventually the Lime Tree Avenue entrance towards the park. Parking is £6 for the whole day.

By public transport you can catch a bus marked ‘Wollaton Park – special event’ which leaves the Victoria Centre or Upper Parliament Street in Nottingham city centre every 15 minutes from midday.
