Let’s be clear, shedding hair is quite normal, on average we shed around 80 strands a day. We notice it in the shower plug or in our hairbrush, it’s nothing to worry about.

But if you notice that it doesn’t seem to be replacing as fast as it’s shedding, then that’s the time to consider why it’s happening.

There are several reasons that someone can lose their hair, but whatever the reason, the common effect of significant hair loss on a person is a real loss of self-confidence.

If your hair loss is genetic, you can thank whoever in the family you take after, your body is pre-programmed for your hair to thin.

If your hair loss is caused by a trigger, it is the result of an internal imbalance or upset that can cause hair thinning to occur.

So what causes it?

A number of factors can cause this but the most common include:-

  • Hormonal Imbalance
  • Stress, as well as affecting the immune system, can cause hormonal imbalance
  • Medical conditions such as iron deficiency, anaemia, vitamin B12 deficiency, hyper or hypothyroidism. Make sure to always be medically diagnosed by a physician, don’t self-diagnose and especially don’t Google symptoms, otherwise you’ll be in a state of total panic before you can say Wikipedia!
  • Dramatic weight loss which again can affect hormone levels.
  • And, of course, let’s not forget age. This would primarily
be as a result of entering menopause.

Our hormones play a huge part in our overall health and wellbeing, as you can see.

Okay, so what can you do?

  • Healthy Diet
First of all, it takes a while for hair loss to establish so keep an eye on it along with maintaining your general health with a healthy diet, along with introducing supplements that contain Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3, Copper, Zinc, Selenium, and the essential amino acids, L-Lysine and L-Methionine.
  • Watch out for the styling!
Go easy with the tight top buns or restrictive scarves. This could be putting strain or weaken hair follicles.
  • Keep calm!
It’s understandable to possibly feel upset and embarrassed but please be reassured that you are not alone in suffering with this issue and there are lots of others affected with the same symptoms. Please don’t feel embarrassed.
  • Try not to stress about it, this could make it worse.

Anything else?

One product alone isn’t going to help. Instead, review your diet and overall lifestyle as well as taking care of your scalp health and the condition of the newly emerging hairs.

Where can I go for help?

We are so excited here at Face Up to be launching our new Hair Fitness program, a combination of products and treatment to achieve amazing results to help your body restore thinning hair and reduce excessive hair loss.

This treatment is suitable for both male and female clients. Now, sadly, we cannot resurrect the dead, so if a follicle is no longer ‘living’ it cannot produce hair again. So, if you have noticed that your hair is looking thinner, it’s better to take action sooner rather than later.

Everything we offer to our clients here is results driven. We listen to our clients, when we are asked for help, and we set about studying and researching to find a remedy to a problem. It’s what we do.

The treatment isn’t painful, is relatively quick and the products are pleasant to use. It will take time to achieve results but the time will pass anyway! All we need for you to do is be patient and don’t worry.

Give us a call or drop us a message to book your free consultation to discuss the options available and let us help you to forget about the hair.
