This year’s Derbyshire LGBT+ Pride event takes place on Saturday 8th September, when we will be celebrating diversity and inclusivity in the LGBT+ community.

Pride day will start with a colourful parade through the central shopping area and the market place, from St. Peter’s Street and ending up at Curzon Street at 12pm for the start of the main Pride event. The on foot parade will include the Ambassadors Showband and various groups, as well as members of the general public. The meeting point for anyone wanting to take part in the parade is on St Peter’s Churchyard, at the junction with St. Peter’s Street – participants should meet between 11am and 11.15am. Ryans Bar on St. Peter’s Churchyard will be opening at 11am for anyone needing refreshments or toilet facilities.

The actual event takes place on Curzon Street and Bramble Street, which will be closed to traffic by Derby City Council between 6am and 11pm on the day. The nearest car park is 2 minutes away on Abbey Street.

We have a great lineup of acts appearing on the main stage from 12pm – 6pm, with our headline acts being Danny Beard, Livin Joy, Sweet Female Attitude and Kirby (from TV’s ‘The Voice’). Also performing on the main stage will be Mizz Pink (Pink tribute act), Milestone Road, Lady K, JD (local drag newcomer), Studio Storm Fitness, Ross Alexander, Pete Martine, and Ultimate Demi Lovato (tribute act). Local DJ’s DJ Vaun, DJ Adz and DJ Will, will also be performing and the event will be hosted by Soraya Vivian (making her return to Derby after wowing the crowds last year) and co-hosts Trudy Knight and Miss Davinia (famed locally for their Cabaret act).

There will be an extensive stalls area (anyone wanting a stall on the day should email derbyshirelgbtpride@gmail.com), with food stalls, information stalls, local traders and a variety of fairground games, amusements and activities. We are a fully inclusive event and family friendly, with a dedicated Kids Zone area with various activities to keep the young ones entertained.

The daytime event finishes at 6pm, but the party continues into the night with DJ Adz and DJ Will performing on the stage on Curzon Street until 10pm. At 10pm the Official Derbyshire Pride After Party starts at The Crown Inn on Curzon Street, with DJ Vaun and singer/songwriter Smashby performing on stage. The party will continue until 3am.

Derbyshire LGBT+ Pride is a free event, run by volunteers and open to all, which is made possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors Derbyshire LGBT+, The Crown Inn on Curzon Street and Codemakers Ltd of Derby; Derby City Council; and of course the Derbyshire LGBT+ community who have generously supported us by attending our fundraising events throughout the past year. We have a Just Giving crowdfunding page (https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/derbyshire-pride) so that people can make donations towards the substantial costs involved in running this annual event.
