Big Pete’s Monster Trucks return to Derbyshire County show this year! They perform to half a million people a year, crushing over a 1000 cars – not to mention all the caravans and buses that are also crushed. They have even appeared in a music video for Calvin Harris as well as an advert for McDonalds.
We spoke to Karen, one of the Monster Truck Drivers at Big Pete Ltd:
“We are delighted to be heading back to the Derbyshire County Show again this year with Big Pete and the Grim Reaper Monster Trucks. Myself, Michael Murty and the team were last at the show in 2015 so we are more than ready to return back to one of our favourite venues in the East Midlands and the home turf of one of our own team.
With two performances planned through the big day itself we look forward to being amongst the agricultural environment once again, with plenty for all the family to see and do!”
“Its great news to hear that the show is returning to the lovely venue opposite the Elvaston Castle Country Park.
Our Performances on the day will consist of both Big Pete and Grim Reaper working simultaneously in the main arena demonstrating the difference between them in a battle of strength, power and speed. With Big Pete weighing in at around 7.5 tonnes and Grim Reaper around 4.5 tonnes is always a fantastic spectacle for all the family. Highlights within our performance are always the Tug of War and the Car Crushing, which is only made possible thanks to the support of Dave and Michael Ward at Wards Recycling.”
“We are always made to feel so welcome at the Show and we have to share our thanks to some of those who make this event happen – Ed Hicklin, Ann James, Richard Hollis, Kerry Oxley and many more who work tirelessly to put on this great show , which this year we have the pleasure of being a part of.”
“Make sure you come and find us on the showground, where we are accessible for any questions or photo opportunities which you may want with the drivers and the trucks. We look forward to seeing you all there, and we have most definitely ordered the sunshine!!”
