Derby Festé will arrive on 27, 28 and 29 September with a bag full tricks and a sprinkling of magic.
This year Derby Festé celebrates 250 years of Circus and kicks off on Thursday night as Bass’ Recreation ground is opened up as the venue for a fantastic, exciting and exhilarating circus ‘Now or Never’ by Circa Tsuica.
Feast at the famous Bustler Market with street-food and drinks from around the world at Riverlights and on the Market Place then enjoy the circus spectacle under a star studded big top a vibrant band of international acrobats and musicians. Now or Never will have three performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Tickets are limited for each show and are priced at just £10 each.
Guaranteed to bring laughter, gasps and fun as they fly, fling and swing across their beautiful tent on trapeze, Cyr wheels, trick bicycles and trampolines whilst playing funky brass music with riotous enthusiasm.
Friday night will see the opening of the Jon Marshall’s traditional 1950’s Side Shows on the Market Place alongside a Virtual Reality Playgound by Thrill Laboratory. The Market Place will also welcome Feste fans with the very first outdoors Bustler Market as French company Cie Dyptik prepare to perform an energetic hip-hop dance performance D Construction which is performed around metal scaffolding.
On Saturday the streets will burst to life from 11am with a Circus Procession that will end through the streets leaving behind it a trail of fantastic performances throughout the day for the whole family including live music, circus performances, dance, and some incredible characters.
The Saturday evening starts with a parade FierS á Cheval which is a company of beautiful larger than life glowing white horses winding through the Cathedral Quarter. Then enjoy light projections dancing on the buildings around the Market Place in a finale to celebrate 10 years of QUAD.
