BPM Records first opened it’s doors in Derby back in 1987…

and yet after a short hiatus and a couple of location changes, they have now settled in to the new shop in Old Blacksmiths Yard, Sadler Gate. BPM is the only specialist record shop in the city and serves all the needs of the modern vinyl collector. Situated over 2 floors in a beautiful tudor building there are thousands of records to choose from in all genres and styles, from Rock N Roll to Pop, Country, Folk, Punk, Indie, Jazz, Funk and Soul.

Dave Hill, who opened BPM in Derby 30 years ago, has worked in music sales since the 1970’s. He provides a knowledgeable and friendly welcome to customers old and new. Music fans that are looking for that missing album from their youth like Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours or The Clash or a rare David Bowie LP will find them among the thousands of classic albums.

Since reopening the shop 6 years ago, vinyl has gone through something of a renaissance with collectors of all ages finding a new love for their favourite bands on vinyl. In the current age of digital downloads, music fans have embraced the sounds of The Beatles, The Who and The Sex Pistols, with the needle dropping into the groove and that unique warmth that only vinyl gives. Part of the charm of LP’s is the classic cover art of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon or Queen’s Night At The Opera with fantastic inner sleeves and record company logos like Vertigo swirl or the pink Island label.

For those of you with albums stuffed away in the loft, the shop will buy your unwanted collections for cash. There has never been a better time to be a record collector and the best place to buy or sell records in Derby is BPM at 10 Old Blacksmiths Yard, Sadler Gate, Derby DE1 3PD.
