After recently coming under new ownership, The Blacksmiths Loft is experiencing a little makeover this winter. However, the team say you should expect the same delicious, local- produce fuelled menus, perfectly executed cocktails and their infamous open mic night atmosphere, merely with a bit of extra effort and love thrown in.

Now don’t confuse yourself, The Blacksmiths Loft and Lounge are two separate offerings housed under the Sadler Gate venue. Upstairs you’ll find the Loft which showcases the exceptional talent of their team of chefs, priding themselves on incorporating the freshest seasonal and local produce into their menus, whilst taking inspiration from the finest dining experiences.

Whilst downstairs you’ll be treated to a cosy, log cabin vibe right in the middle city centre, the perfect place for a pre or post meal drink. However, throw in their ever popular live music evenings and open mic nights and the place is known to be roaring with atmosphere, with guests singing along and getting involved – just what you’d want from a usually sleepy Sunday afternoon. Team their fabulous acts, with a couple of their signature cocktails or perhaps a gin flight of your choice and you’ll be set for the night, offering the perfect balance between casual and entertaining.

The restaurant is open Tuesday – Saturday from 5pm and they serve a phenomenal roast dinner every Sunday from 12 – 4. Rather than do things traditionally, they serve up all those mouth-watering ingredients on an eye-catching sharing platter, piled high with everything you’d expect on a real Sunday roast, plus their entire menu is gluten free as standard (including the Yorkshires!).

This Christmas the Loft will be opening their restaurant for Thursday-Sunday lunchtimes (a time they’re usually closed) to house Christmas parties over eight people, for which they’ve got a bespoke party menu prepped and ready for all tastes. Plus you’ll be delighted by a festive and warming cocktail menu, packed with the flavours of all things festive. We recommend you try a toffee apple old fashion, its one not to be missed.

However you sample the Blacksmiths, whether you visit up or downstairs, Sam says that his main aim is to make every guest feel at home. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee with a friend or spending a special occasion around a dining table, the welcoming atmosphere is infectious, as the bar staff join the open mic acts and the waitresses celebrate birthdays with the dining guests, it’s a local venue with a little something special to offer.
