We are about to say Adieu to another British Summer
We are in the last official month of summer, and I must say it’s been a wet one as usual, but with one of my favourite times of the year just around the corner, it’s time to get your home ready for those cosy nights in.
Autumn is a great time to change the feel of the home from bright cool colours to softer warmer tones, and you don’t need to break the bank to achieve a great new look!
With shades of red, amber and burnt orange you can easily make some subtle changes and bring a sense of warmth to your space. Below are a few ideas that will help inspire you.
Texture: Add some texture with a gorgeous soft throw and textured cushions in a variety of sizes, these work great if you love your leather furniture. Decorate a feature wall in a warm colour or fabric style wall covering to make the focus of the room feel warmer as soon as you enter.
Displays: Fire place displays are easy to create and look fantastic with coloured candles as the main feature, and if your home is open plan you can always match the display with a table feature with the same autumnal colours.
Artwork: Pictures that depict autumn colours are a fab way of giving a room a different feel and can be swapped around through the seasons to give an instant impact.
Aroma: Switch scented candles and oils to create a relaxing ambience.
So, while the weather remains fair, why not get out and about in Derbyshire as there are some great gift and craft shops to inspire you, and with many supporting a selection of very talented makers in the area, you will find some unique pieces.
